Use the drop-down menu below to explore Santa Barbara, California.

The city of Santa Barbara is located in central California, with the Santa Ynez Mountains creating its dramatic backdrop. This gentle crescent of the California coast boasts stunning beaches, lush vineyards and soaring mountains and makes for a fabulous beach escape. Santa Barbara's climate is often described as Mediterranean, and the city has been promoted as the "American Riviera".

In downtown Santa Barbara you will find Mediterranean-style white stucco buildings with red-tile roofs reflect the city’s Spanish colonial heritage. High-end boutiques and restaurants offering local wines and seasonal fare line State Street.

For those keen to explore Santa Barbara then a 3.5 mile trek to Inspiration Point provides stunning city and coastal views. Lizard’s Mouth at around sunset is another fantastic spot worth of an Instagram moment or two! The Botanic Gardens and Lotusland are both unique natural attractions filled with native plants of California and also worthy of a visit. Last but by no means least is, a trip to the Moorish-style gardens at Casa Del Herrero. This is a Spanish Colonial Revival estate that has remained unchanged since it’s completion in 1925 featuring antique furnishings and stunning gardens.

Visitors and locals love to indulge in Santa Barbara’s top-notch dining choices with an array of farm-to-table and local fare, and shoppers flock to State Street for stylish finds. For a modern twist, a visit to the Funk Zone should be on the to do list. Here, red tile roofs and white stucco buildings are replaced with modern structures that were part of Santa Barbara’s industrial district.

California’s climate is quite often compared to that of the Mediterranean, due to its warm, dry summers, and mild, wet winters.
