Riviera Maya
Use the drop-down menu below to explore Riviera Maya.
Straddling Highway 307 along the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the Riviera Maya is one of Mexico’s most popular resort regions. This 130-kilometre stretch of spectacularly scenic coastline extends from the resort city of Cancun in the north to the Mayan ruins of Tulum in the south. The area is renowned for its long white sand beaches lapped by the clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and lined with world-class all-inclusive resorts and boutique hotels. While travellers seeking tranquillity can explore the jungle and the sleepy fishing villages, those looking to get in on the action can head to Playa del Carmen, a vibrant tourist town featuring some of the best shopping, dining and nightlife that Mexico has to offer. Popular activities in the area include snorkelling, scuba diving, jet skiing, ziplining, horse riding, and swimming in cenotes.

June is the hottest month in Riviera Maya with an average temperature of 28°C (82°F) and the coldest is January at 23°C (73°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 10 in August. The wettest month is September with an average of 247mm of rain.
