The town of Drumheller is located in the province of Alberta in Canada, within striking distance of the city of Calgary. Home to the World’s Largest Dinosaur – a 26-metre replica Tyrannosaurus Rex – Drumheller is an excellent place to visit for those with an interest in prehistoric life.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology is one of the greatest dinosaur museums in the world, including a 67 million-year-old T-Rex skeleton and the chance to witness the interesting operations of the fossil laboratory. Elsewhere, the Atlas Coal Mine is a National Historic Site offering guided tours of its early 1900s facilities, and there are excellent hiking trails available in nearby Horseshoe Canyon.
This area of Alberta’s badlands is full of spectacular geological formations and offers visitors the chance to glimpse the Northern Lights (August to April)
