The picture most people envisage when conjuring up an image of paradise, is Mauritius. Blessed with powder white sands that cling to its coastline, crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean that laps its shores, lush green tropical forests that rage internally and a mountain range that soars to "Piton de la Petite Riviere Noire" over 800 meters high. Mauritius is "The Perfect Paradise!"

Mauritius is a volcanic island that lies to the east of Madagascar. A protective belt of coral reef surrounds the island and is in fact the largest in the world; creating a collection of calm lagoons. The blue green seas are full of captivating colours from the luminous tropical fish to the cherished and protected corals which lie beneath and are aptly named by locals for example brain or cauliflower coral.

With such a dynamic and diverse past the island has had a flurry of nationality such as the Dutch, French, English, Portuguese and Arabic, many wanting to claim the island as their own, not only because of it’s natural beauty but because of its strategic position for the spice and silk trades of the east. As a result of this the Mauritian people have embraced the different cultures and religions over the years and have latterly lived harmoniously, this has never been more evident than in the warmth and friendliness in the people of today’s Mauritius.
