The Magic of Dubai

Posted in Travel Writing, Dubai by Louise Lockwood on 25th Jul 2022

I set off for Dubai at the end of June with my colleagues Jayne and Nicola, for what was to become the Dubai adventure of a lifetime.

We set off on the Emirates A380 from Manchester Airport, considering that the airports are constantly in the news at the moment, our experience of Manchester Airport was surprisingly good. Security was a breeze and our flight departed on time and within the blink of an eye, we were landing at Dubai International Airport.  We were met by our driver and swiftly left the airport for our first meal of the trip, breakfast at One&Only Royal Mirage The Palace.

One&Only Royal Mirage is an oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city and the perfect place to relax and unwind. The deeply cushioned sunbeds are perfect for an afternoon nap or reading after a leisurely lunch at the beach restaurant.  In the evening we took the boat to the exclusive One&Only The Palm for dinner at 101, on the water’s edge with views over the Dubai skyline, amazing food the perfect way to end the first day.

After a good night's sleep our hotel site inspections began, ensuring that we gained a thorough understanding of each property and what they can offer our clients. Despite the fact that we were working hard, we always managed to fit in a swim towards the end of the day!

Dubai is most certainly a unique place, a city full of shiny skyscrapers along beautiful beaches in the middle of the desert. The city has something for everyone and is home to the best shopping, fantastic dining with so many things to do including sightseeing, adrenaline-pumping & cultural activities.

We had some incredible food in Dubai, from Asian Fusion to American diner-style food, lobster to chocolate mushrooms!! The choices were amazing and of course, every dish was paired with excellent wine choices and fabulous company.

One of the many highlights in Dubai included eating in Dubai’s brand-new Michelin Star Restaurant, Hakkasan at Atlantis the Palm, the food was beautiful and the ambiance in the restaurant reminded me of a trendy jazz club.  My other highlight was watching Nicola do the Aquatrek adventure at Atlantis amongst the sharks and stingrays, she is a lot braver than me!

The wonderful thing about our work trips is we meet friends old and new; this is why Prestbury Worldwide Resorts have relationships with hoteliers that can make your holiday a little bit more special. Dubai is a destination that each time I visit I fall a little bit more in love with, and this time was no exception.
