Highlights from Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

Posted in Travel Writing by Nicola Martin on 25th Jul 2022

Having previously visited Dubai in 2018, I was extremely excited to return, and our trip certainly did not disappoint! After a wonderful 3-night stay, visiting many luxurious hotels and experiencing the vibrant dining scene of Dubai, we arrived at the Atlantis, The Palm.

Leaving our luggage with the friendly porters, we were whisked off to the Imperial Club Lounge, given a lovely glass of champagne to enjoy whilst checking into our rooms with the dedicated concierge team. The lounge, located in the East Tower over two floors, is a fabulous way to upgrade your stay. It offers daily continental champagne breakfast, afternoon tea, evening drinks & canapes and a dedicated team who will look after every part of your stay.

I stayed in a Palm View room, overlooking the resort and Dubai skyline. Contemporary in design, inspired by the ocean surrounding the hotel, my room felt spacious and comfortable, a perfect space to relax in after a fun-filled day at the resort. The bathroom was very luxurious, with a large walk-in shower, double vanity, and oversized freestanding bathtub with sliding doors that you can open to enjoy the glistening skyline of an evening.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dining at the Atlantis. We chose Wavehouse for lunch, a casual yet lively restaurant offering burgers, pizzas, and refreshing cocktails together with a bowling alley, games arcade, and live music. Open from 12 to 11 pm, it’s the ultimate destination for couples and families to let their hair down.

The highlight of the trip for me was the Aquatrek Xtreme! I headed over to the Ambassador Lagoon inside the Lost Chambers Aquarium for my 10-minute briefing before getting suited up to do my underwater adventure. Wearing a special helmet and with slight trepidation, I submerged 10 metres into the tank and ventured around the bottom of the lagoon, surrounded by sharks, rays, and thousands of colourful marine animals. I even managed to stroke a sting ray! A once-in-a-lifetime experience that l will never forget!

Still buzzing from the thrill of my trek, we all headed out for the evening. First stop: The Imperial Club Lounge. We sat down with (another) glass of champagne and soaked in the lively atmosphere whilst chatting about the fabulous day we’d had so far. The lounge has a wide selection of delicious canapes and a dedicated bar offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy between 5 and 7pm.

Our next stop was a Michelin-starred restaurant, Hakkasan, one of a number of celebrity-endorsed restaurants at the resort. A traditional Cantonese menu with a contemporary twist, we tasted a number of delicious dishes including Hakkasan Peking duck, crispy tiger prawns, and a supreme dim sum platter, all washed down with a signature Hakkatini. We ended our night back at Wavehouse, sipping fun and refreshing cocktails, and singing the night away with the live band.

Out of all the hotels we stayed at and visited during the trip, the Atlantis has to be my favourite. It’s an iconic entertainment destination offering fun for everyone, old or young! And if you want something extra special, keep your eyes peeled for the brand-new ultra-luxurious resort opening soon, Atlantis the Royal.
