Located on a private 500-metre beach, the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa is set against the deep turquoise water of the Sea of Oman contrasting vividly with the majestic mountains that rise behind the resort. Approaching the Shangri-La Resort via a man-made tunnel through the mountain leads guests to a sanctuary facing the Sea of Oman.
Reflecting something of every aspect of Oman’s colourful tradition, history, environment and culture, this resort encompasses two different hotels within one spectacular location: the Al Waha and the Al Bandar Hotels. On an idyllic private bay, clustered between jagged mountains and the turquoise seas of the Gulf of Oman, guests can choose from the two lavishly appointed hotels - each unique in their appeal and orientation, spectacular in design and beguiling in mood. Between them, amid 124-acres of landscaped gardens, extends the Piazza - a meeting place for shopping, activities and dining. The resort has a style and setting for all tastes.
Al Waha lives up to its name (meaning "The Oasis"), with several swimming pools merging to form a serene oasis. Most suited to families and groups, the Al Waha is the largest of the three hotels and has every amenity, on the property, for parents and youngsters alike. It is a setting where the elegant Omani backdrop sits easily with more contemporary features like an Internet Café with television walls. The hotel’s many focal points include an All-Day Dining restaurant with a South American theme, fast food and seafood restaurants, a Lobby Lounge and a Pool Bar.
Al Bandar, translates as "The Town", a name reflected in the architecture of the hotel. Inspired by old Muscat, featuring buildings of varying heights and a variety of ornate balconies, Al Bandar is the resort’s focal point with 198 sea-facing guest rooms with 7 food and beverage outlets.
Children can enjoy facilities such as the Lazy River, children’s pool, play room and water aquatic play area in Al Bandar and Al Waha hotels.
Room and Suite Features
Al Waha offers a total of 262 spacious Superior Cabanas and Superior, Deluxe and Premier Rooms, as well as Regular and Deluxe Suites. All come with sea-facing balcony or terrace, air-conditioning, 24-hour room service, satellite television and much more. Al Waha translates as "The Oasis" and is the largest of the 3 hotels.
Al Bandar translates as "The Town" and is the resort’s focal point with 198 guest rooms - Deluxe, Deluxe Terrace, Deluxe Sea View, Premier, One Bedroom Suite and Speciality Suite, all sea-facing and with a furnished balcony or patio.

Al Tanoor serves the characteristic cuisine of the Arabian Gulf region in a traditional Omani atmosphere. The interior is designed with Arabian tents, pottery and vibrant colours which complement the enticing dishes prepared for you at the open cooking stations.
In addition to Arabian cuisine, the restaurant offers Mediterranean, Persian, Indian and Turkish favourites, as well as a tempting selection of fresh fruit and juices. A la carte dining is also available. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Set in a contemporary setting, the Asia restaurant takes you to a culinary exploration of east and southwest Asia. Prepared in four glass-enclosed show kitchens are distinctive cuisines from China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Guests are invited to view the chefs as they prepare dishes in traditional Asian techniques such as wok fry, steam, grill, boil or rolling a sushi. Savour the unique flavours of sweet, bitter, sour, salty and spicy through a menu featuring popular dishes including dim sum, sushi & sashimi, noodles, Thai curry, satay and spring rolls, among many others. This restaurant is closed on Mondays.
Bait Al Bahr
Located between Al Waha and the Al Bandar hotel, the splendid Gulf of Oman forms the perfect backdrop to showcase the unique and distinct flavours of Omani cuisine. Experience the rich heritage and culture of Oman with fresh seafood, prepared right by the beach.
Capri Court at Al Bandar Hotel, offers a contemporary Italian experience through its innovative menu and stylish restaurant design. Enjoy its fashionable ambience indoors or relax in the outdoor seating area which looks directly out to resplendent beach and garden views. Capri Court’s menu focuses on the freshness and flavour of the ingredients. New dishes are constantly introduced to highlight seasonal produce. Open each evening.
Legendary Lebanese singer, Fairouz, whose singing prowess and songs have been embraced across generations, has inspired the name of the restaurant. Located at the Al Mazaar souq, the menu is a lavish mix of hot and cold mezze, grills and authentic pastries. Its authentic cuisine coupled with an elegant interior promise an exceptional dining experience. Open for dinner except Sunday.
Samba showcases exotic, international cuisine with flavours of Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean. Dishes are prepared in open show kitchens, providing an opportunity to interact with the chefs. Smart casual. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Surf Café is a fashionably casual dining venue with its own Internet stations at the Al Waha Hotel . Serving healthy salads and snacks as well as burgers and sandwiches, Surf Café is a great spot to stay connected while sampling light meals. Casual. Open daily.
Tapas and Sablah
Tapas & Sablah, a relaxing piazza in the heart of the resort, serves Mediterranean and Asian tapas as well as Middle Eastern mezze late into the night. The menu is complemented by a full beverage and shisha selection.
With indoor and outdoor seating, Zafran Café is close to the middle of the shopping arcade in the Al Mazaar Souk and close to the children’s facilities. Serving coffee, teas, pastries and light meals, it is perfect for leisure dining and catching up with family and friends. Guests can enjoy shisha at the courtyard.
