Discover the Beauty that is Antigua

Posted in Travel Writing, Caribbean, Antigua by Emma Bosworth on 1st Apr 2019

The picturesque islands of Antigua and Barbuda are rich in beauty and boast 365 white sand beaches, lush landscapes and a true Caribbean laid-back pace. With an array of luxury accommodation, it’s the perfect place to soak up the sun, enjoy a rum punch and experience all this beautiful island has to offer.

A drive around Antigua’s 108 square miles showcases Antigua’s idyllic charm, superb bays, numerous harbours and secluded beaches. Shirley Heights, a historic hilltop military installation in the South of the island, enjoys spectacular views of English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard with a fabulous party atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon.

‘Stingray City’ provides a thrilling ocean adventure where guests can snorkel among and even touch and hold a Stingray in their natural habitat – a once in a lifetime opportunity. An Eco Safari is a fabulous way to explore Antigua and takes guests on an adventurous ride through unspoilt Antigua. The safari takes also takes in the stunning cliff top views, a visit to an old Sugar Mill, before culminating in an Eco Kayak adventure through the mangroves to learn about local sea life.

Due to the gentle trade winds throughout the island, one of the biggest highlights in Antigua is Sailing Week, an annual event which takes place at the end of April, and considered one of the biggest events in the international sailing calendar.
